Damn, that's a beautiful sight!

No, not the SharePoint community at Tech Ed evening events such as a piano bar featuring live musical performances (more on that later), but the Space Shuttle Atlantis, which we watched launch early Friday evening.

- NASA photo (obviously)

I'm not a fan of the word awesome, which is often used to describe something that isn't, however this sight was exactly that. It's also somewhat of an emotional experience, with the significant crowd watching from our vantage point someplace near Cocoa Beach hollering pride and support.

If you get a chance to experience this - do not even think of passing it up.

Glad you were impressed, I grew up in Cocoa Beach and after seeing rockets go up routinely in the 60's and 70's its something I never forget. It's a shame that most people have lost interest in the amazing technologies associated with the space program.

Back in the early 90s I saw a night time launch while I was in Orlando and it lit up the sky like nothing I had seen before. I could only imagine what it must have looked like if you were at the launch site.
